Statement on the detainment without charge of our partner Anas Abu Srour

FFIPP is deeply concerned about the unjustified arrest and detention of our partner Anas Abu Srour by the Israeli Occupation Forces. Anas is the Executive Director of the Aida Youth Center in the Aida Refugee Camp.

Anas was detained by Israeli forces on Tuesday, November 28th. After 72 hours, his family continued to receive conflicting information on his whereabouts and which charges, if any, he is facing. Doing this, Israel violates the basic right of families to be informed about their loved one’s whereabouts.

Anas is one of the over 3,300 Palestinians from the Occupied West Bank who were arrested, mostly without charge, since October 7th, additional to the 5,300 Palestinians held in Israeli prisons prior to October 7th. Over 4,000 Palestinians from Gaza were imprisoned after October 7th as well, leading to record highs of Palestinians imprisoned in Israeli jails. Released Palestinians report widespread abuse, torture, and beatings while imprisoned.

We demand the immediate release of Anas from Israeli custody, and the release of all Palestinians unlawfully imprisoned by the Israeli occupation.

We call all allies to sign and share the petition demanding the immediate release of Anas Abu Srour, as well as the release of all prisoners held unlawfully in Israeli prisons.
